What you can see in ... SWEDEN Uddevalla in the Winter By Kajsa-Stina If you want to get out and breathe the fresh air you should definitely take a stroll along Strandpromenaden. Starting out from Skalbankerna in eastern Uddevalla, it continues along the shoreline of Byfjorden and ends up at Lindesnäs on the west side of town. The promenade is a 9.3km long, cultural walkway taking in much of Uddevalla’s history, and in 2009, it received the award “Sweden’s most beautiful path”. If you visit Uddevalla in the winter, be prepared for a lot of snow! During a sunny winter day a nice activity might be cross-country skiing, and Uddevalla offers a lot of ski-tracks. At Herrestadsfjället and Bredfjället there are ski-tracks of varying length. Perhaps you would like to warm yourself after that with a cup of coffee or tea at one of Uddevalla’s many cafés. If you rather like to spend your time shopping, that is not a problem! A few kilometers outside Uddevalla lies Torp which is a shopping mall containing about 80 stores. At Torp you will find everything to make your shopping round complete, and if you get hungry why not eat a tasty burger at McDonalds or try a sandwich at Subway. A few months ago, a new IKEA store opened right across the street! Why not visit it as well?
