CARL FRIEDRICHH GAUSS

He was a German mathematician, astronomer, geodesist and physicist. He worked almost all the fields of Maths and he recognized the utility of the complex numbers before other mathematicians. Lots of methods, concepts and theorems carry his name in his honour.

BERNARD BOLZANO

He was a Bohemian philosopher, theologian and mathematician. He built the first function that is in all of its parts continue, but in any diffrentiable. The Balzano-Weierstrass theorem carries his name

AUGUST FERDINAND MÖBIUS

He was a German mathematician and astronomer. He wrote lots of large essays and texts about astronomy, geometry and statistics. He made valuable contributions to the analytics geometry. He is considered a pioneer in topology. The band of Möbius carries his name.

NIELS HENRIK ABEL

He was a Norweigan mathematician. He worked the elliptical functions. He formulated the integral abelian theory. The abelian group carry his name in algebra. There is a prize called Abel prize too.

CARL GUSTAV JACOB

He was a mathematician. The theory of the elliptical functions iss his most famous work. He introduced theta's functions. He also worked the quadruply periodic functions. The Jacobian Matrix, the method of Jacobi and the elliptic function of Jacobi carry his name.

PETER GUSTAV LEJEUNE DIRICHLET

He was a German mathematician. He evidenced the convergence of Fourier's series and the existence of infinite prime numbers in arithmetic progression. Dirichlet's theorem about arithmetic progression carries his name.

KARL WEIERSTRASS

He was a German mathematician. He contributed to the theory of the elliptical functions, the differential geometry and the calculation of variation. The Bolzano-Weierstrass theorem, the functions of Weierstrass and the Stone-Weierstrass theorem carry his name.

GEORG CANTOR

He was a German mathematician. He made important contributions to modern maths. He was the founder of the set theory. The set of Cantor is considered the oldest fractal. In his honour the Georg Cantor's medal is granted.

SOFIA VASILIEVNA KOVALEVSKAYA

She was a Russian mathematician. She was the first university professor of maths in history. Weierstrass was her teacher. In 1886 she got a solution for an especial case of the problem of rigid bodies around a fixed point.

HENRI POINCARÉ

He was a French mathematician, physicist and philosopher. He's considered the founder of the algebraic topology. He also worked the geometry and the theory of numbers. The hypothesis of Poincaré was considered for a long time the most important of the unsolved problems of topology. Poincaré's demiplane carries his name.
