CONVOY CHALLENGE
Challenge for Charity
– Hobart style
All of our challenges have
been amazing events, but
this challenge was the most
spectacular. It also had
everyone putting their hands
up to be part of it.
Two Sydney to Hobart
veteran racing boats under
sail, the glorious Hobart
Harbour and a simply perfect
day – what more could you
want. Just to add more
money into our fund raising
total, which we did.
Terry Rogers and his
motely crew were on Magic
Miles while Angie Hilton and
her collection of land lubbers
boarded Helsal IV. Macca
wanted to make sure that
all was fair on the water,
and headed off to find a
helicopter. Thanks to Bryn
Watson from Rotor-Lift
Aviation Helicopter Tours
he was soon in the air.
As this was being run
under ‘race conditions’ the
hooter was in play, so a
select group of three were in
the official HQ to make sure
the hooter was working. And
Mark Stranger from Hobart
Yachts said he had it all
under control.
Once the crews were on
board, the race was on.
Sailing out from Hobart
Harbour, heading for
Bellerive Oval round the
bouy and back again.
