CONVOY TRAVEL
Hillcrest Tourist Park
ST HELENS
The convoy travelled to
St Helens with some great
plans in place. It is a
beautiful area and we were
looking forward to holding
our concert at the Hillcrest
Tourist Park.
We checked into the park
and set ourselves up. With
a total of 13 vans, we soon
spread around the park.
Those convoy members who
were not in caravans headed
off to their cabins for our
two-night stay.
Hillcrest Tourist Park is a
pet friendly park, but more
than that, it is a boat and car
wash friendly park. With
fishing being such a major
pastime for the area, boats
need to be kept clean, and it
is unusual to find that this is
catered for. Being able to
clean a hire car before you
return it is a bonus too.
The office is in one of the
best stocked mini marts we
have seen on a caravan park.
In fact it is more than just a
mini mart, it serves as the
52
local shop for the people in
the area. There is a range of
hot and cold take away food.
Plus if you are staying at the
park, you can buy from their
stock of beer, wine and
pre-mixed drinks.
Regardless of our plans,
the weather had a very
different idea for us. Instead
of the glorious sunshine to
warm us, it was pouring with
rain, and it continued to do
that all day and well into the
night. We do believe that we
broke the drought in St
Helens, so we went out in
the rain raising money for
our charity.
