Albany played a very
important part in the 100th
celebrations of Anzac Day
this year. On 1st November
1914 a convoy of 38 troop
ships plus seven warships
were in King George Sound,
the waters of Albany. They
were ready to sail for
Europe with the first of the
Australian volunteer soldiers.
These are the men who
ended up in Gallipoli. And
Albany was the last time
many stood on Australian soil.
Albany has a Mediterranean
climate, but a rather wet
one. On average there are
44.8 clear days each year,
but not every un-wet day is
wet all day!
