"new Perspective" Students in Mrs. DeLuca’s 8th grade class at Burnet Middle School worked collaboratively on a web quest to prepare for the dramatic reading of Anne Frank. Students searched 22 different websites to find information on topics related to the Holocaust. Some of the topics the students covered were Genocide, Kristallnacht, The Evian Conference, Kutno Ghetto, Forced Labor Camps, Death Marches, Liberations and the importance of keeping the memory of the Holocaust alive. Students had fun and were shocked by the information they learned through each of these websites.

This activity aligns with the new My Perspective Language Arts curriculum in which historical context is analyzed with nonfiction short stories and plays. The historical play “The Diary of Anne Frank,” is the next reading for Unit 2. All short stories will assist students with answering the essential question “How do we remember the past?”.
