HEART INSTITUTE
twenty-five sub-specialties
The Heart Institute at Children’s Hospital Colorado treats more cardiac
patients than any hospital in our seven-state region. Our team of more
than 30 pediatric cardiologists, three board-certified congenital cardiac
surgeons, and eight cardiac anesthesiologists employs vast experience and
innovative techniques to treating cardiac problems in patients ranging from
newborn to adult.
In collaboration with our world-class Colorado Fetal Care Center (see p. 34),
our program leads the way in medical and surgical care of infants with
complex congenital heart defects, many of which can be diagnosed in utero
and treated immediately after birth. Because congenital disease affects not
only the child but the entire family, our multidisciplinary team of nurses,
physicians, nutritionists, child life therapists, social workers, psychologists,
and neuropsychologists is dedicated to care for congenital heart defects
regardless of a patient’s age.
