Information and guidance for young people aged 13-19 Introduction Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Rutland have seen a growth in service and knowledge-based industries over recent years: key sectors across the area include finance; health and social care; agriculture, food and drink; creative; energy; tourism and life sciences. Engineering and Manufacturing continue to be important sectors, with a high demand for technicians and higher level skills. Manufacturing accounts for nearly 1/5 of all GVA in Greater Cambridge and Greater Peterborough area. Our agriculture, food and drink sectors are going from strength to strength and Cambridgeshire remains a leader in food production and agribusiness. We are also a hotspot for ICT (information communications technology) businesses, many of which have international reputations. The largest sector in terms of employment is finance and business and in Peterborough it accounts for nearly one quarter of employee jobs. But while the health sector is the second largest source of employee jobs overall, education is the largest sector in Rutland and the city of Cambridge. The creative sector is growing in all parts of the UK and we have a cluster of established companies with many smaller ones growing; along with hi-tech jobs, we can expect to see a growth of new jobs needing computing and digital creative skills.
