Days Lost

by Raini St. John

Perhaps in days when dawn is lost

And the sickening silence of the waters drown

My eyes, drag me to share their darkened fate

Beneath the murky surface to the never ending night

Of the deep cold far below the light

Perhaps in days where heat is lost

The warmth of the rays dull against

My skin, help me freeze to blocks of ice

And no longer shake the air with rattling breath

Perhaps in days where day is lost

I may be saved by the oceans buried deep by

My soul, save me from the pressures

Of life long lived yet long forgotten
