WVNCC Launches New Center for Business and Industrial Training As one of the largest institutions of higher education in the Upper Ohio Valley, West Virginia Northern Community College (WVNCC) offers more than 70 programs and nearly 20 specialized two-plus-two transfer programs. WVNCC takes pride in its proactive approach to economic development and strengthening the communities it serves. training programs for companies, and West Virginia companies may qualify for assistance in paying for the training. Perhaps the best part about the new Center for Business and Industrial Training is that its training is completely customizable. Businesses are encouraged to reach out to WVNCC if there is a course or training they need for employees that is not yet offered. “If there is a business that needs a certain type of training for its employees, we can conduct it ourselves or will connect them with someone who can,” says WVNCC’s Vice President of Economic & Workforce Development Larry Tackett. “It is remarkable the talent we have at WVNCC. We want individuals and businesses of all sizes to know we are here to help.” It is that sense of pride that has inspired the recent launch of the WVNCC Economic & Workforce Development Division’s Center for Business and Industrial Training, which offers expanded industrial and business training on a variety of topics to local and regional companies. These courses complement and expand the customizable training currently offered to companies and will be conducted on one of WVNCC’s three campuses—Wheeling, Weirton or New Martinsville—or on-site at a company’s request. Courses will include but are not limited to welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, electricity, information technology, entrepreneurship, customer service, bookkeeping, OSHA, SafeLand and ARC Flash Safety.
