Hersick+Webster Creative Partners (H+W)
is a unique design and branding studio
located in Berkeley County. H+W was
founded on James Hersick and Laurel
Webster’s mission to add some good to
the world through design.
The studio is designed to be intentionally
small for a more collaborative approach
that combines the partners’ passions,
skills and experiences with those of
their clients and communities. In these
partnerships, H+W often fi nds itself
designing strategies, conversations and
collaborations alongside the branding and
communication design needs.
Hersick grew up in Jeff erson County
and intimately understands the
potential as well as the challenges the
Eastern Panhandle and West Virginia
are feeling in this time of growth and
transition. Webster, a native of Southern
California, has combined her West
Coast perspective with Hersick’s local
experiences. Together, they off er a broad
creative approach for solving business
and community challenges.
A typical day in their non-typical
studio could include organizing the
Martinsburg Farmers Market, designing
a trailside exhibit for Alabama’s Gulf
State Park, creating strategies for
community organizations like the Burke
Street Promise Neighborhood Initiative
and Families Leading Change and
sketching logos, designing materials or
writing brand stories for national and
local businesses. While both partners
are proud to be nationally recognized
as graphic designers and for their
leadership in social impact design, they
are even more proud of the work they
do to improve opportunities in this state.
H+W wants to elevate the collective
impact organizations in West Virginia
can have by thinking collaboratively
to create new ideas for economic and
community development. In addition
to building bridges for collaboration,
the company is focused on fi nding
ways to share successful regional
projects so they can have an expanded
impact on the whole state, like the WV
FresHealthy Bucks EBT farmers market
program. H+W continues to take on
new clients and is focused on working
with more businesses in West Virginia
to share with the world how great this
wild and wonderful state truly is.
