Jingwen ( Even ) was born and raised in Shanghai , where she has been teaching in Early Years for 13 years . Even received a degree in Education from Shanghai Normal University , then continued her studies at East China Normal University where she received a bachelor degree in Business Management . After graduating from university , Even began teaching in a local kindergarten and became very familiar with the Chinese local early years ’ curriculum . After gaining experience working in local education , she chose to work in international schools including Fortune kindergarten , Dulwich College ( Early Years ) Shanghai and YCIS Early Years . The experience gained allowed Even to see the differences between Western and Chinese education and culture and inspired her to find ways to bridge the two cultures with her teaching . In January 2015 , Even was hired as the Early Years ’ Curriculum Coordinator , Lead Class Teacher and Acting Principal in East China Normal University Affiliated Bilingual School Early Years . During this time , she finished her Principal training course and received her Principal certification .
More recently , Even joined the team at Wellington College Bilingual Shanghai as Mandarin Co-ordinator and Chinese Lead teacher , where her education philosophy aligns perfectly with the Wellington College approach to learning . Even teaches by capturing children ’ s interests and letting them learn from their explorations of those interests , while giving them appropriate support . She cultivates children ’ s active learning abilities which makes learning more fun . Even believes that teachers must respect children ’ s unique personalities and develop them further .
WILLIAM GREEN EARLY YEARS 1 ENGLISH TEACHER
William has 13 years of teaching and researching experience in Japan , China , and America in elementary , preparatory , universities , professional training , and international schools . While studying in Japan as an exchange student , William developed an interest in language teaching which has endured to the present day . With a Master ’ s degree from Columbia University in TESOL / Applied Linguistics , a teaching certification from Washington D . C . and an undergraduate degree in Psychology , his area of specialisation has been in the field of education and psychology . He has served as co-founder of a language training centre in Shanghai and creator of The TESOL Connection Group on LinkedIn , which currently has over 7,400 members . He is currently completing his doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Management ( Ed . D ) at Drexel University .
William ’ s ultimate goal is to prepare his pupils for the challenges of the 21st century . His eclectic approach to language teaching , learning , and curriculum design is learner centred with a keen focus on differentiation . He believes that pupils must be provided with the opportunity to develop their independence and autonomy , and must positively interact with teachers and fellow pupils in order to enjoy the benefits of a learner centred curriculum . In his classroom , exploration and reflection are integral features of activities that pupils engage in . William ’ s research interests include Computer Assisted Language Learning ( CALL ). Earlier this year , he had the opportunity to present and submit a paper entitled “ Assessing the Viability of Scribblenauts in the ESL Classroom ” which explores using software in the classroom to help primary school pupils learn English vocabulary .
