WELLINGTON COLLEGE CHINA THE HOUSE SYSTEM All pupils are members of a House. Each House is named after one of the 18 Houses at Wellington UK. For Tianjin, the Anglesey, the Blucher, the Orange, the Stanley and the Wellesley were chosen, while the Shanghai Houses are the Combermere, the Hopetoun, the Stanley, the Wellesley, the Lynedoch and the Hill. In both Senior Schools, there are dedicated House rooms, and appointed Housemasters and Tutors who are in charge of the pastoral care of the pupils. There is a fierce sense of loyalty to the House, principally through the House competition, with points available for academic achievement, sporting success, debating, singing, and a range of other contributions. The Tianjin and Shanghai Housemasters are in frequent contact with their counterparts in the UK, and are looking to strengthen the links between their Houses further through joint charity collaboration and other projects. blucher BLUCHER HOPETOUN HOPETOUN stanley STANLEY COMBERMERE COMBERMERE LYNEDOCH LYNEDOCH WELLESLEY 33
