WELLINGTON TODAY 2017 WELLINGTON COLLEGE CHINA OUR TEACHERS Without a doubt, we have what can only be described as an outstanding team of teachers at Wellington College International China, with over 100 teachers in Tianjin, 130 in International Shanghai and 40 in Bilingual Shanghai. The excellent r eputation of Wellington, both in China and the UK, and the quality of our facilities in Tianjin and Shanghai, has meant that we have been able to recruit an academic team of the highest quality. Educated at some of the world’s best universities, and with teaching experience at a wide range of outstanding schools in the UK and overseas, their commitment and enthusiasm is second to none. Some have taught at Wellington College UK, and the majority have also spent time there getting to know the ins and outs of our partner school, either as part of the staff induction programme that we have run there for the last five years or on subsequent visits for professional development or accompanying exchange groups. All are fully involved in the co-curricular and pastoral side of school life, as well as in the classroom. The working relationship between the academic and the outstanding non-academic team would be the envy of any school, and has been a critical factor in allowing us to achieve what we have since opening our first school in China in August 2011. 28 WELLINGTON COLLEGE INTERNATIONAL TIANJIN JULIAN JEFFREY SECOND MASTER & HEAD OF THE SENIOR SCHOOL JAYNE SABIO HEAD OF SIXTH FORM & MFL Julian Jeffrey’s undergraduate degree was in History from the University of Durham, with a postgraduate Teacher Training qualification (PGCE) from the University of Exeter.
