MESSAGE FROM
THE MASTER
WELLINGTON
COLLEGE
INTERNATIONAL
SHANGHAI
Based on the unique feature of all the Wellington community
of schools – the Wellington Aptitudes and the Wellington
Values, the curriculum is designed so that all pupils become
well-rounded adults, well equipped with the skills, knowledge,
attitudes and values essential to meet the challenges of society
in the 21st century. Wellington College in Shanghai has built
a vibrant community where pupils strive to reach academic
excellence and engage in a comprehensive wide range of
opportunities in music, performing arts and sports within the
Co-curricular and Academy Programmes. The College welcomes
the wider Shanghai community during the annual Wellington
Arts Festival, Summer Festival and Festival of Education.
Wellington College has a worldwide reputation for the highest
quality teaching and learning. The world-class campus of
Wellington College in Shanghai opened in 2014. Wellington
is deeply committed to an all-round education and the full
development of the unique gifts and talents of every member
of our community. Our children develop a passion for learning;
interests that extend beyond the confines of the classroom;
capacity to think and learn independently; individuality; and
an understanding of their responsibilities to local and global
communities. Wellington has become known for developing the
all-round child and achieving academic excellence.
My clear focus as Master is on being the best international school
in Shanghai and one of the very best in the world. This is the
school culture we have brought to China. This vision is not just
for our children; we aim to excel in involving Wellington parents
and our openness with them.
Located in the New Bund area, Wellington College
International Shanghai is the second international school
established by Wellington College, following the footsteps
of Wellington College in Tianjin. Into its third year, the College
welcomes over 780 day and boarding pupils from Pre-Nursery
(aged 2) all the way to Year 13, representing over 40 nationalities.
Since opening in August 2014, the College has rapidly established
a reputation for academic excellence and provision of a broad
enrichment programme.
