Dr. Steven Iszkula
orthodontist in Erie, Pennsylvania. I have
always wanted to take an active role in or-
ganized dentistry since I graduated from
the University of Pittsburgh and returned
home in 2010. I am very fortunate to have
a strong base of hardworking and involved
dentists in the Ninth District who called me
up and invited me to my first local meeting
shortly after starting to work. From there I
have jumped in full force getting involved
in the local Erie County Dental Association,
becoming a member and later chairing the
Membership Committee of the PDA and be-
coming President of the Ninth District. I am
very fortunate that I have been able to help
our profession and members by helping to
secure our profession.
My own involvement with the PDA has
helped me both personally and profes-
sionally. I have met and fostered great
relationships with so many colleagues that
have helped my practice avoid pitfalls and
blossom. These relationships have helped
my patients get better care. The local
Continuing Education (CE) events have
helped me spend more time with my
family by limiting unnecessary travel. We
have all worked so hard to enter into the
best profession in the world and now we
have to do our part to protect it. I encour-
age every new graduate to join the PDA
and take advantage of all the benefits
(great insurance, advocacy, and CE) that
they have to offer.
