If arriving before 08:20, pupils should go to their houserooms. Upper Prep pupils have a prep period on their timetable. During this time, they should be completing prep work. Prep work is preparatory work for future lessons and consolidation of taught lessons, more commonly referred to as homework. Upper Prep School secretary Serena Zhao: 021 5185 3856 Pupils are responsible for managing their own time during prep sessions and should use this time to complete activities set. They are monitored by house tutors and have the opportunity so discuss tasks with their peers or seek clarification from subject teachers. However, pupils may still need to spend time at home completing tasks. Head Nurse, Sarah Tang: 021 5185 3889 (call 137 0198 1931 in a medical emergency) End of the day: Pupils will be dismissed from their final session to make their own way to the school bus, to be collected or to travel home independently. Lateness If you know your child is going to be late, please inform the housemaster and school secretary as soon as possible. The school day starts promptly at 8.20am. Equally if you are going to be late collecting your child please contact us. Late arrivals and collections will be monitored. Attendance Maximum attendance will ensure maximum attainment and progress for all children. Please let us know if your child is absent and the reason for the absence. Sickness: Email your housemaster, school secretary, bus services and school nurse as soon as possible on the day of illness, by lunchtime where possible. If they have a fever, vomiting or diarrhoea children should remain absent for 48 hours unless they have a doctor’s note to return. Planned absence: Holidays during term time are discouraged due to the impact that this could have on learning. If unavoidable, please send an absence request to Head of Upper Prep. Absences due to holidays will be unauthorised. Authorised absences can be given for situations that are unavoidable. Bus services must be informed of any planned absences. Pupils should make effective use of their planners in order to be prepared for the school day. Pupils are encouraged to record details of their prep activities and due dates along with any other notable dates. Planners are monitored regularly by housemasters and tutors. Parents are encouraged to check them too. Site security – keeping our children safe – Please remember to bring your ID card every time you wish to enter the site, without the ID card your identity will need to be verified which may take time. – Your ID card on the orange lanyard should be worn in a visible place at all times – if it is not visible, expect to be challenged. – Our security guards are under instructions to strictly follow these rules and will not make exceptions, even if they recognise you. Please respect and support our security guards in this regard. Lunches and snacks 1. Pastoral evening around October 2. Written report at the end of Michaelmas term 3. Important information – Only one person can enter the security gate with one ID card – please do not share cards or tailgate. Leaving early: Please schedule non-urgent medical appointments outside of school hours where possible. Should you need to collect your child before the end of the school day, please get a stamped early leave permission form from the school secretary to show the guards as you leave. Pupils in Upper Prep are responsible for their own lunch cards and will use these to purchase food from the dining hall at break and lunch. Please ensure that your child’s card is regularly topped up with funds.
