With the work piece clamped to the top of the MFT/3 I was able to use the sander horizontally without any problems

This just shows how the DTS 400 was able to get right into the corner.

I clamped the workpiece to the side of the MFT/3 and sanded the sides with ease. I used two hands to make sure the sander was balanced.

DTS 400 in a Systainer 2, with a plug -it cord, Turbo Dust Bag, and room for around 25 abrasive sheets.

The DTS 400 is intended for fine details and difficult to reach spaces. The DTS 400 has a 2mm stroke, which leaves a very fine surface. The DTS 400 can be easily operated with one hand, coming in at just 2.4 lbs and boasting a compact design. I used the DTS 400 one-handed on several occasions and never found myself getting overly tired. It comes with a variable speed motor and StickFix Hook & Loop design for easy abrasive changes. The sander is sent in a Systainer 2, with a Plug-It power cord, and Turbo Dust Bag. There is plenty of room in the Systainer to store around 25 -30 abrasive sheets as well. Features a 27mm dust extraction port and connects to a 27mm hose on Festool’s line of dust extractors. I have a CT 26, which is what I had it connected to for most of my sanding tasks. I did use the DTS 400 for a couple of hours with just the just the Turbo Bag to see how well it performed, and was pleasantly surprised.

There are many Festool users out there who believe that Festool sanders require a "break-in” prior to use. I did not remember doing any kind of special break-in for my ETS 150 but was curious if this was true. I read different posts on the FOG and decided the only way to get a good answer was to email Festool. They were very quick to respond and I was pleasantly surprised with the reply that I received:

"Most complex mechanical products, such as power tools, have a break in period. The question is whether they require a special break in procedure upon initial use. Festool products do not require users to perform a break in procedure, they are ready to use out of the box."

Now I was all set to put the DTS 400 to work. The following are several images that show how I used the DTS 400 in my projects:
