THE
welcome to the winter/spring 2016 issue
of wedluxe, the rare beauty issue.
When my team and I sat down to plan the theme of this issue, we were
inspired by all things rare, beautiful, valuable and exclusive. From
precious gemstones of record size, to rare flowers that only bloom once
a year, we wanted to encapsulate these extraordinary inspirations and
share them with all of you.
Our fashion features took the Rare Beauty theme in two very distinct directions.
In “Fashioned In Stone,” beginning on page 74, our statuesque model channels
a modern Venus de Milo in an editorial inspired by marble sculptures and classic
architecture. In “Curio,” on page 238, we conceptualized a world inspired
by cabinets of curiosities, the Renaissance era trend that involved collecting fine
antiques and rare natural specimens, displaying them in a museum-like setting.
We reflected this eccentric practice by highlighting the latest floral appliquéd
and hand-embroidered gowns with botanical-influenced accessories.
As always, our WedLuxe Glitterati Members took our issue theme and
ran with it in their own inspired directions. This issue, the country’s
top event planners, florists, event designers and other wedding industry
professionals were inspired by the unique exotic beauty of far flung
locations like Morocco and Japan, as well as locations closer to home like
the Northern Canadian wilderness, to name a few. You can see the
winning collection of WedLuxe Glitterati Style File features beginning
on page 94.
Perhaps the rarest form of beauty on this planet is that of true, predestined
love. The nine weddings we chose to feature in this issue are the result
of this unique kind of love. Planned and executed together with the help
of top wedding professionals, it is my hope that the rare and exclusive
design elements in each of these individual celebrations will excite and
inspire you for your very own wedding.
Finally, I’d like to remind you to Save the Date for the fifth Annual
WedLuxe Show, happening Sunday, January 10th, 2016. Held at Toronto’s
carlu and presented in conjunction with Oliver & Bonacini Events,
this is the one luxury wedding event you won’t want to miss! And
for our fellow wedding industry insiders, we’ve planned a special
preview for you on Saturday, January 9th. Tickets are on sale
now, and you can get yours at wedluxe.com today.
