The woMan Behind Host Jam “The Energetic Emcee” Who is Jam Saquilayan decline several events due to being fully booked. Having more than one emcee in Host Jam means they’re able to serve the growing needs of their cli- ents. Clients need not to worry though because Jam ensures that her in-house emcees remain true to the brand Jam has built and that the clients get the same value for their money. At the young age of 13, Jam began hosting for church activities but it was a Women’s Month Celebration that started it all for her. Little did she know that she would soon find her way become a full- fledged events host. Her first was in Windsor Heights with a mix crowd of locals and foreigners. Recalling how nerve wracking it was, Jam was able to pull through. She believes she did good because one hosting gig led to another -- from debuts to corporate events and then to weddings. Jam graduated with a bachelor’s de- gree in Foreign Service. After gradua- tion, she became a college instructor while taking her Master of Arts in In- ternational Relations at Lyceum of the Philippines University Manila Campus. On the side though, Jam was hosting events which eventually encouraged her pursue a hosting career despite her love for teaching. “I made my passion as my profession,” she says. Since then, she became more focused in attending to her clients’ needs through giving them only the best. The network of Host Jam, as she fondly calls her business, continued to expand, having been currently affiliated with a number of suppliers who lovingly include her in their offerings and refer her to clients. To date, she has hosted more than 600 events and has worked with a number of distinguished personalities and ce- lebrities like Arnie Ross, Parokya ni Ed- gar, Vice Ganda and Calla Lily among others. More than her hosting and social skills, Jam also offers a complete program package inclusive of consultation, ice- breakers, and games for her clients. This is because she wants everyone in the event to enjoy and interact, not to mention stay until the last part of the Advice hosts event. Overall, Jam gives her clients what they need the most -- a stress- free event program. Ten years of experience Having been hosting for ten years now, Jam finds fulfillment in knowing she has served her clients the best way possi- ble. She considers each of her events special and she couldn’t be more grate- ful whenever her clients appreciate her work. For her, her work doesn’t stop in hosting. She likes to build long-term relationships with them knowing she was once a part of a special moment in their life. For some of her clients, Jam was a vi- brant addition to the program because of her lively and enthusiastic way of hosting. Even clients from abroad were impressed by her hosting skills -- an outcome of years and years of expo- sure, training, and not to mention de- termination. Now, Jam knows the value of paying it forward. She needs not only to expand her services but also to expand her own internal network by training new in-house hosts for Host Jam. It started when some of her colleagues request- ed her to mentor them --- a true mark of a job well done for Jam. She had no idea she was already inspiring people with the same passion as hers. It also helps her on the business side because there comes a time when she has to Host Jam +639169997123 for aspiring events For Jam, there are 3 Ps one must have to succeed in this field: prepara- tion, professionalism, and passion. “As they say, behind every brilliant perfor- mance are countless hours of practice and preparation. So we have to do our homework by making, practicing, and mastering what to say and what to do,” she shares. She does not deny the fact that doing something for the first time is chal- lenging and scary. Preparation is key for anyone who has just started do- ing something. It can be in the form of learning from experts by reading arti- cles about outstanding people, watch- ing videos about your craft or having a conversation with people who have already succeeded in the field. Once you’ve reached success and earned the trust of your clients, pro- fessionalism should be part of your DNA by being ethical, courteous, and conscientious. Being punctual, truthful, credible, and resilient work too. And just like in any other fields, customers are always right and their needs and preferences should come first. Lastly, Jam highlights the value of pas- sion -- in everything that you do. “We have to always give our hundred per- cent effort in each of our event like it will already be our last one,” she adds. Ultimately for Jam, passion leads to ex- cellence. And her success is proof of it.
