Partners, and sisters, Maite Gregorio and Candy Sanchez,
combine their unique specialties to whip up a cake surprise.
Your Cake Concept
Cakes have gone a long journey from just being sweet
breads. We’ve seen the simple cake transform to all
kinds of shapes, colors and themes. The cake maker’s
creativity and skill is critical in the designing of a cake.
Only those with the steadiest hands, the sharpest eyes
and the most vivid imagination can take on this challenge.
And, those who succeed, did because they’ve made our
dreams into lovely sweets.
Ms. Maite shares, “In the beginning our inspiration were
our families and friends who believed in our talent and
creativity. Today, our inspiration is our clients who come
to us with cake designs that challenge our talent, skill and
creativity. When a soon to be wed couple come to us with
a challenging task- a cake design that has a new concept
and is challenging. Our team of skilled cake designers
and decorators look forward with great anticipation to the
next challenging cake. Right now, my sister, Candy, is
busy doing an Air Force 1 cake for a regular client.”.
Maite is the one with a flair for the elegant and the classic,
while, Candy uses her hands to form the funky and quirky
designs matched with playful toppers – together, they
offer clients exactly what they want.
She describes the most memorable cake concepts they
have encountered and have delivered, “we are proudest
of the shoe cake for a debutante, the Malacanang cake
we did for our past President GMA for her last birthday,
the Caleruega Church cake, a replica of the said church,
and the Canyon Woods Clubhouse cake. In July last
year, we received a call from a client- a debutante who
wanted a cake with several pairs of shoes, lots of them.
We never met her. We sent her a sketch thru e-mail and
from there she placed her order. We felt that she has
given us full trust and confidence, and we told ourselves,
‘we will do our best to make this cake turn out really nice’.”
Ingredients for the Perfect Cake
While she emphasizes that “there is nothing difficult if
you love what you are doing..” She also underscored,
that aside from their talent, skill and passion, punctuality
is also vital in the business. They make sure cake is
delivers on time. She adds, “at Cake Concepts, [we]
would always provide the cake required by the couple.”.
Perhaps, it is also important to note, that before their cake
business, she and husband Geo Gregorio, were already
in the bakeshop business. A foundation that carried Cake
Concepts Unlimited through almost 2 decades of nothing,
but, impressive cakes (and impressed clients!).
“Our cakes are one of a kind. Made to order. Our service
includes a one-on-one meeting with the couple wherein I
get inputs as to the theme of the wedding, the color motif,
what they like and what they don’t like in a cake. Candy
and I would discuss about the cake and would come
up with a sketch. Which is presented to the couple for
approval. Our smallest three layer wedding cakes cost
P10,000.00. A big three layer wedding cake may cost
P15,000.00 up. Price may depend on cake size, cake
flavor and design. It is also a policy of our company not
to make dummy cakes or cakes that have only a small
piece of cake. After all we are not styro makers, but cake
makers and decorators.”
