Measuring Success of Audits

The metric GE uses is number of audit findings that are closed within 30 days, whereas the method most companies use is simply the number of findings uncovered by an audit (that is, the lower the number of findings, the better the performance of a facility). Simply counting the number of findings creates a disincentive for an audit team to find deficiencies in operations or compliance, GE says.
