Air Protection Initiatives ______________________________________________________________ Two directives regulate air quality standards in the EU • Clean Air for Europe Programme (CAFE) • Directive relating to Arsenic, Cadmium, Mercury, Nickel and Polycyclic Hydrocarbons CAFE sets air quality standards for sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and oxides of nitrogen, particulate matter, lead, benzene and carbon monoxide • Both Directives were transposed in all Eastern European EU Member States • If companies emit any of these substances it may impact future permits, particularly in areas that exceed admissible limits • ©2014 Enhesa.
