Australia:
Ambient Air
Quality standard
was proposed to
be revised
In response to
scientific
evidence on the
health aspects of
air pollution that
reflected new
scientific
understandings
on particle matter
(particularly
PM2.5). The
proposed
Standard would
also set limits for
PM2.5 and
imposes more
stringent
reporting
standards for
PM10 and PM2.5
among other
matters.
South Korea:
Proposed new Act
would
fundamentally
change the
permitting system
for pollutant
emitting facilities
Proposed Act
would introduce
an integrated
pollution
prevention permit
system that
applies best
available
techniques
economically
achievable.
India:
The National
Green Tribunal has
expressed concern
that states are not
strictly enforcing
consent (a.k.a.
permit)
requirements for
air emissions and
water discharges
The Tribunal has
instructed State
Pollution Control
Boards to evaluate
current and historic
consent
compliance.
States may seek
penalties against
companies that
were out of
compliance in the
past, even if they
are currently in
compliance. In
some cases, the
tribunal has taken
very strict action.
