Dr. Mary-Kate Lizotte wins Augusta University research award
Dr. Mary-Kate Lizotte, an associate professor
of political science, recently received the Louis
K. Bell Research Award,
which is awarded annually
to an Augusta University
faculty member who
has made significant
contributions to their
field of study.
The focus of Dr.
Lizotte’s research is gender
differences in political behaviors and public
opinion. In her research she explores the
existence and origins of gender differences in
support for a number of subjects, including
abortion, military interventions and vote choice.
In her nomination letter, Dr. Kim Davies,
professor and chair of the Department of
Social Sciences, noted the many contributions
of research and publication Dr. Lizotte has
made. During the Fall 2018 semester alone, Dr.
Lizotte presented three papers at the American
Society for Political Science and had two articles
published.
Dr. Davies wrote that Dr. Lizotte also “has
a total of 168 citations according to Google
Scholar as of March 26, 2018, and importantly,
her citations are increasing. The citations alone
verify the importance of her work.”
“No matter how we look at it, qualitatively
or quantitatively, Dr. Mary-Kate Lizotte
has what we want all our faculty to have at
Augusta University,” Dr. Davies wrote. “She
has an impressive research record and a drive
to continue to work diligently on projects
with others in her field and as a sole author to
produce work that matters to the future of our
society.”
Congratulations, Dr. Lizotte!
