A Multi-Million Dollar
Renovation for the Fine
Arts Center underway
The Fine Arts Center is receiving a much-needed
renovation. Although the outside of the building may
look the same, wait till you see the inside!
A new, large rehearsal hall with 30-foot ceilings
will double as a recital space. Thanks to a very
generous gift from the estate of Eugenia Toole
Glover, the room will receive upgraded technology
and acoustic treatments that will enhance
performances and help students in large ensembles
learn to listen and blend their sounds with others. In
addition, Glover’s beautiful Steinway piano will find a
new home in this recital hall.
“We are so grateful for the gift of Ms. Glover’s
wonderful seven foot Steinway, which helps us move
closer to our goal of becoming an All-Steinway
School. Her piano will be played for student recitals
for many years to come,” said Dr. Angela Morgan,
chair of the Department of Music.
The rest of the Fine Arts Center will also be
remodeled to use the space more efficiently. In
addition to two new music classrooms, there will be
another small rehearsal hall, 14 practice rooms, and
enhanced choral and instrumental music libraries.
The classrooms will be equipped with state-of-the-art
sound and projection systems.
The Music Departmental Office and the Music
Conservatory Office will be relocated to a space
directly off the lobby, making both these offices easier
to locate and more accessible.
The construction started in mid-December 2018,
and will continue until completion in August 2019.
