Pamplin College is thrilled to feature LeDarius
Scott as our outstanding student. Scott is a
hardworking and ambitious student majoring in
political science and graduating in Spring 2019.
Scott stays busy with school and is currently
in his second term of bring the President of
the Student Government Association. Scott is
also a member of the Lumin Society, a student
ambassador program that works with Alumni
Affairs.
He is thankful for all the opportunities that
Augusta University has provided him.
“College is the land of opportunity and to be
able to thrive in environment that makes me a
better individual, is the best feeling ever,” Scott
said. “Even with all the challenges, it is worth
it.”
Getting his degree in political science is not
the end of Scott’s academic career. Scott plans to
enroll in our Master of Public Administration
program when he graduates. He knows both
degrees will aid him in his chosen career field of
politics.
“I love politics, so after completely finishing
school, I plan to run for district commissioner,”
Scott says.
Becoming district commissioner is just a
stepping stone in his plan. Scott’s big career goal
is to eventually become mayor of Augusta, so he
can give back to the city he loves.
Scott admits that he is an introvert at heart.
With such a busy schedule, he enjoys having time
to himself to relax, decompress, and sit down
with a good book.
When asked if he had any advice for current
or future students of AU, Scott said, “remember
that your purpose in life extends beyond you. In
moments of failure and adversity, keep in mind
that if you quit, the world will never get to see
and benefit from your purpose.”
Pamplin College is proud of LeDarius Scott and
is excited to see where his ambitions take him.
Spotlight on Student Scholarships
Nissa Bren Moles Music Scholarship
The Nissa Bren Moles Music
Scholarship was established to honor
and remember a talented music
student who passed away in 2004,
shortly before finishing her Music
Education degree at what was then
Augusta State University.
Nissa was a graduate of Davidson
Fine Arts High School. She was first
chair cello in the University Orchestra,
and also played in the Orchestra String
Quartet.
“Nissa was beautiful inside and out,”
says Professor of Cello, Dr. Christine
Crookall. “One of the last pieces we
worked on together was the Brahms
Cello Sonata in E minor. To this day,
whenever I hear, play, or teach this
work, I always think of Nissa.”
Her parents wanted to support
other young musicians, as a way to
honor their daughter’s memory. The

Nissa Bren Moles Music Scholarship
is awarded every year to a deserving
string player.
“Nissa wasn’t able to make her full
mark on the world herself,” wrote her
father, “but she does so now through
this scholarship.”
This year’s scholarship recipient is
Dawn St. Hill, a violin student who
attended Hephzibah High School. She
has been playing violin for ten years.
“I was shocked and ecstatic to
hear that I would be receiving the
scholarship,” St. Hill says.
Pamplin College would like to be
able to award multiple scholarships to
deserving music students like Dawn
through Nissa’s legacy. If you would
like to contribute to the Nissa Bren
Moles Music Scholarship Fund, you
can do so through the AU Foundation
(fund # 391480).
