The tuxedo is known for being the most formal outfit of all, the kind which you wear to the finest and most elegant of events, right? Wrong! The tuxedo, or often called "Black Tie", is no more than a semi-formal type of suit which was originally created to replace the traditional tailcoat. So, at the end of the day, the tux is just a suit made to replace a more formal one. Nevertheless, this type of suit is indeed made to look formal, so it differs from a regular suit and tie. First of all, the suit is entirely black or midnight blue, colours that are rare amongst double breasted or regular
suits. The fact that all three pieces of this outfit are of the same colour proves that, most of the time, there are little to no combinations possible and therefore the casual look of a broken suit cannot be achieved with a tuxedo. Also, the silk found in the lapels, bow tie and down the sides of the trouser differentiates the tuxedo look from that of a single breasted suit. Overall, the tuxedo is indeed a stylish outfit made to be worn solely to evening or night time events. In a sense, it is somewhat more restrictive in terms of how, when and why it should be worn compared to other suits, but the look that this outfit achieves is exclusive and difficult to find in other suits, hence its popularity through time.
