Performance tests were introduced, but the number of Norikers dropped rapidly in the 1960’s and 1970s from 34,510 to 9,599. Recent years have been marked by a slight increase and renewed interest in cold blooded horses. The Association for Italian breeders, AIA, recognizes it in the category of “breeds of limited distribution”, under the name of “Norico Pinzgauer.”

Due to its color varieties, the Noriker enjoys large popularity. Beside the basic coat colors bay, black and chestnut, there are spotted Leopard complex horses, Mohrenköpfe (blue roan) other roan colors, Overos and Tobianos.

Tigerhill Ranch Norikers

The Tigerhill Ranch is designed and built for vacationers with the joy of horses, nature and adventure. We are located in the center of the Bavarian Forest Nature Park between the highest mountains of the Bavarian Forest, the Großer Arber (4776') and the Großer Rachel (4767'). The ranch is located just outside the village of Rinchnach on a beautiful southern slope. In an almost secluded location, it is surrounded only by its own horse pastures and the sheer endless nature of the Bavarian Forest.

The Noriker averages between 15.1 and 16.3 hands
