Cross Country Trail Ride began in 1955 as a get together for a few friends and has blossomed into what it is today. In those early days guests moved campsites daily, but eventually a permanent campground was required. The current owners, Jim and Jane Smith, purchased Cross Country Trail Ride in 1979. At that time, it was located about 7 miles west of Eminence on property owned by the National Park Service. In 1981 they relocated the facility to its current location just a half mile north of Eminence. Jim and Jane operate the business as a family with their children and grandchildren helping, as well as, both of their parents in the past. With a lot of hard work, they have been able to create a vacation opportunity that is both affordable and fun for all ages!

So, if you haven't experienced Cross Country Trail Ride yet 2017 is the year to make it happen! Pack your trailer, load your horse, and come on down for a week of trail riding, dancing, and fun!

Memories scattered across the

Trail

Rosalie "Rose" Turinski died of lymphoma December 11, 2014. Age 51, wife and best friend of Jeff Turinski (pictured above), the two rode the October ride every year and had plans to go in 2014 but Rose was too sick. Rose, Karri Krambs, Debbie DeLuca, and Sue Chapman, along with varying friends, camp every year at the same spots by barn DDD. Jeff brought some of Roses ashes and we sprinkled them on Rose's favorite trails during our ride.

My best friend, Denise Waterman, an engineer paramedic firefighter, has also been lost to us. I leave stones along the trail in her memory when I ride. ~ Dianne Whitehouse
