Jill and Omni's Easy Jet, a 1993 American Quarter Horse gelding

Cari Schwartz, the first person in the United States to earn their Silver Medal in Working Equitation

In the Novice Level Working Equitation dressage test, Jill had to show correct gaits and smooth transitions between walk, trot, and canter as well as demonstrate clean and correct halt and rein back. She was also required to perform leg yields at the walk and half turn on the haunches, and lead changes through the trot. In Ease of Handling, she had to demonstrate the ability to canter in and between a variety of obstacles, changing leads through the trot while maintaining a fluid, cadenced performance. Like Cari, she had to avoid being disqualified during the Speed trial while earning her qualifying scores.

All Jill’s Bronze medal scores were earned on Omni’s Easy Jet. An American Quarter Horse gelding born in 1993, Omni’s Easy Jet is currently the oldest actively competing horse registered with WE United. Omni’s Easy Jet is out Easealee and by Omni Deck and was bred by Leon and Susan Braasch. Before starting his very successful WE career, Omni’s Easy Jet traveled hundreds of miles of trail as Jill’s endurance racing mount. Together, the two are well-known in the Pacific Northwest for their blistering fast speed rounds.

Both Cari Schwartz and Jill Hamann-Bannister are students in the Pedro Torres Academy of Working Equitation, USA, training regularly with Head Instructor Nuno Matos from Portugal when he is in the United States for Academy sessions.

In addition, both Cari and Jill take an active role in helping other people learn more about the sport, providing instruction, guidance, and cheerleading as well as being wonderful role models for others to emulate.
