NASMA Versatility Trail Program is designed to reward the hours you spend in the saddle or driving your mule or donkey outside of the arena. This program was devised for those individuals who want to promote the mule and donkey to the public as the best and most reliable of trail animals.

If you would like more information about the NASMA VTP or how you can host your own VTP ride you can reach VTP Chair Pamela Bennett at [email protected] or by

For Saturday night’s supper, we were treated to a local establishment, Smith’s Restaurant in Collins, MO. A family owned business where home cooked food is the norm, Smith’s is the home of the giant pork tenderloin sandwich. They welcome large groups, have banquet rooms for up to 350 people and were more than able to accommodate our large group. The service was top notch, the food was beyond excellent with generous portions and did I mention the pie? Homemade pies and desserts are made fresh daily from scratch. They are located at HWY 13 and US 54. Phone ahead for large group reservations 417-275-4574 and plan to pay your bill in cash or check, as they do not take debit or credit cards.

No trail ride is complete without a gathering of great friends and wonderful stories around a campfire and Eagle Ranch Resort made that easy with fire rings at each campsite and available firewood. As we gathered around a great fire, swapped stories and visited for several hours, lots of giggles, laughter and new friendships were formed. I did receive quite an education about dogs, strollers, diesel pumps, reefer trailers, axles wheel bearings, pitchforks and armadillos.

Thank you to Pete & Roberta Shiflett for being such great hosts and providing VTP and NASMA to have such a great location for a ride and our members to come together to form new friendships and enjoy our beautiful countryside. Huge thanks to Eagle Ranch Resort for sharing your beautiful facility and making everyone feel so welcome. If you would like to visit Eagle Ranch Resort you can reach them by phone at (417) 275-1105. They are located 9040 SE Highway J, Collins, MO 64738. You can also find them online at eagleranchtrails.com or on facebook.
