Last November, the Georgia Horse Archers, an affiliate club of Horse Archery USA, proudly hosted the first International horseback archery competition in the Southeastern United States. The event was held at the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers, and played a huge role in educating the general public and the local horse community about mounted archery. A total of 22 competitors from around the world, ages 11-60 years old, demonstrated both their archery and riding skills over the course of two days at this event. Three courses were showcased, including the Atlanta Cross Country Hunt Course (1200 meters at a canter/gallop through a wooded trail, 19 targets along the course, 3 minute par time to complete), and the traditional Korean 2-Shot and Korean 3-Shot Courses (90m track with 80cm targets place 7m from track).

Trey Schlichting, an International competitor, Mounted Archery Clinician, and Founder of A-Company Mounted Archery in Texas, went home with the title of Overall Champion. The Reserve Champion title went to International competitor, Bettina Pratt, of Luxembourg.
