I first experienced the ride on a family trip in the 90’s, when it was called, “Journey Into
Imagination.” I remember it being a highlight of my Epcot experience. Figment, that little
purple dragon, captured my young imagination. I probably even still have the gift shop
stuffed animal somewhere.
As I sat down to write this article, I cringed a bit thinking how much I loved the original
attraction and what it has become. Don’t get me wrong, the newest version is not a bad
ride; it’s just not what I remember, what I loved. Where is the Dream Finder??? I guess I’ll
assume that he’s lost in imagination or that he retired to a tropical island. Either way, I’m
hopeful he’s still riding that strange blimp/bicycle contraption.
I can understand why the attraction was changed, as a raven cawing ominously and other
nightmarish scenes were probably a bit scary for some of the younger travelers. The
newest version is whimsical, funny, and features a hefty dose of our favorite mischievous
dragon.
LOCATION
Journey Into Imagination With Figment is located in Future World West. As you enter
Epcot and pass Spaceship Earth, keep to the right. The Imagination Pavilion is the last
building you’ll pass before the bridge to World Showcase.
