awarded Honorary Freedom of the City of London

ir Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of
the World Wide Web, was
awarded the Honorary Freedom
of the City of London at Guildhall on
the 24th September 2014, in
recognition of his outstanding
achievements in computer science and
technology.
Sir Tim is an Honorary Freeman of The
Worshipful Company of Information
Technologists.
During a ceremony involving the entire
125 elected Members of the City of
London Corporation, as well as family
and friends, Sir Tim was invited to join
the ranks of leading world figures and
statesmen, such as Lord Nelson,
Winston Churchill, Florence
Nightingale, Princess Diana, Nelson
Mandela, and most recently,
Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

Lord Mayor of the City of London,

remarkable achievements of all time,
revolutionising the way in which the
world creates, receives and shares
information.
