BACK TO ITS ROOTS
The LAKESIDE RESTAURANT & BAR (56 Lake Drive West, Wayne, 973-833-8798,
lakesiderestaurant.com) is under new management, but by owners who are not new to
the restaurant business. David and Tricia DiCenso have reopened the intimate eatery on
Packanack Lake for area residents to enjoy once again, and they invite diners to come
relax with family and friends in a place that holds fond memories for so many local
people, including themselves.
Hostess Tricia explains, “I grew up in Packanack Lake in the house where Dave and I
live now with our children. We swim here. We sail here. It’s my personal fitness track.
I thank God every day for this view.” Now, restaurant guests can enjoy the view while
dining on classic American and Italian fare in this neighborhood restaurant that’s been
restored to the ambiance of a lake community. Old photos of Packanack Lake hang on
the walls and will soon be joined by hand-painted caricatures of local patrons who
frequent the Lakeside Restaurant.
Home-style cooking, with daily specials and seasonal menu changes, is being served.
Selections include steaks, ribs, burgers, seafood combined with Orecchietti, Chicken
Capricciosa and Rigatoni Vodka. Gluten-free options are available. The bar room is now
open and serves pub food such as chili. Tables in the front dining room can be reserved
for more refined dining. Happy Hour is from 3 to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and
BYO Wine only is allowed in the dining area, with no corking fee.

anyone can be an artist and have
fun being creative, even with no
previous art experience.
In a world where social media
isolates people, Pinot’s Palette strives
to bring them together, whether the
focus is on socializing or getting
serious about painting. “Our goal is to
bring art to people in an entertaining,
active way,” says Blair Harvey, owner.
The two-room studio provides all
painting supplies and a trained art
instructor to guide you step-by-step
through the featured painting.
Participants bring their own snacks
and drinks and choose from an on-line
catalogue of over 800 paintings when
signing up. Painting parties make great
celebrations for children’s birthdays,
a girls’ night out, date night or an
anniversary. And, Pinot’s Palette is part
of the Painting It Forward Program
designed to support fundraising to
help strengthen our community.
For over 50 years, Curly’s Ice Cream in Riverdale has been a favorite destination for ice cream
in the Wayne area, and a frequent winner of Wayne Magazine’s Readers’ Choice Awards. Now,
co-owners Chris Meier of Pequannock and his mother, Amy, from Riverdale, have opened
another family-run CURLY’S ICE CREAM shop (129 Mountain View Blvd., 973-832-7999,
curlysicecream.com), right here in Wayne.
Three generations of the Meier family have served premium ice cream made fresh daily using
only the best ingredients to maintain the highest level of quality. “We pride ourselves on making premium ice cream, and do things the way my grandfather did when he first started in 1958,”
Chris Meier explains. “We make small batch ice cream and fold fresh flavors into it,” he says.
Open year-round, Curly’s offers novelties like Tartufos and Tortonis, and a large selection of
homemade hard ice cream, soft ice cream, soft frozen yogurt and custom-designed cakes.
