FAMILY NIGHTS
Waxhaw provides opportunities for families to
reconnect and spend time together through family
nights hosted by the Waxhaw Parks & Recreation De-
partment.
Every First Friday of the month from May-September,
we feature local area musicians at our Jammin’ by the
Tracks concert series.
In April and November, our Movies Under the Water
Tower offer a fun family activity outdoors under the
stars.
Waxhaw is home to the only municipally-owned skate
park facility in Union County. Come join us the first Fri-
day in April for the Blue Light Skate After Dark event
which brings together the community police officers
from the Waxhaw Police Department and area skaters
in a fun jam session and open skate night for skaters of
all ages.
PARADES
Waxhaw celebrates its heritage and Americana at two annual parades.
Each Independence Day begins with a hometown pa-
rade in our historic downtown. Announcers cover the
entire parade route so you hear all of the details sur-
rounding the fun entries passing by from antique cars,
fire engines, parade-themed floats, horses, stilt walk-
ers, clowns, and more.
The Waxhaw Christmas Parade held downtown on the
second Sunday of December features our local school
marching bands, entries and floats by hundreds of
businesses and community members, and Santa and
Mrs. Claus arrive by carriage.
Each year, locals and visitors gather at the Military Wall of Honor to take
part in Memorial Day, Patriot Day, Veterans Day and Wreaths Across
America ceremonies that tribute local heroes and show appreciation for
sacrifices made by so few, for so many. Our Jewish community also
participates in an annual Menorah Lighting Ceremony celebrating
Hanukkah. These ceremonies are held on their nationally recognized dates.
