Events, family nights, parades & patriotic ceremonies events Kaleidoscope Fest / Taste of Waxhaw Third Saturday in May Waxhaw’s Kaleidoscope Fest / Taste of Waxhaw show- cases Waxhaw’s art, culture and culinary cuisines. Held the third Saturday in May, this event showcases Waxhaw area restaurants, breweries and wineries, the Waxhaw Farmer’s Market, and demonstrations and sales by artists and handcrafted goods artisans. Acoustic musicians line the streets and the area’s per- forming arts studios perform on stage. Artwork from the Waxhaw area schools are also on display. Autumn Treasures Grill’n & Chill’n BBQ Cook-off Second Weekend in October Local crafters display their talents and wares on Main Street, while local musicians fill the streets with song. Your mouth will water from the sweet smell of bar- becue cooking on the grills of professional barbecue teams on Friday and Saturday during the Grill’n & Chill’n BBQ Cook-Off. Sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbe- que Society, over 30 professional teams will compete for prize money and state championship titles. Bring the whole family and make a day of it. Our Kids Zone features rides, ponies, petting zoo, a children’s entertainment stage, and crafts. Fright Night Saturday Before Halloween Downtown Waxhaw comes alive with children and adults in this festive costumed event for Halloween. Trick-or- treating in the downtown business district, costume contests, a haunted maze in the David G. Barnes downtown park, scavenger hunt, spooky carriage rides, and ghouling music provide haunting fun! Holiday Festival of Lights First Saturday in December Waxhaw's Christmas festivities officially kick-off during the Holiday Festival of Lights Ceremony held the first Saturday in December. Downtown will be aglow with over 500,000 lights. The arrival of the Christmas season will be celebrated with a live performance Christmas concert, carnival games and rides, live nativi- ty, carriage rides, and the arrival of Santa. 13
