Meet the Waxhaw Parks & Recreation team. The mission of the department is to provide recreational, educational, and cultural opportunities that promote a healthy lifestyle and excellent quality of life in a safe environment for citizens of all ages, means, and abilities. A great illustration of our mission is easily seen through our Town events. Known for our family-friendly events, there is something to do and see throughout the entire year that can help you enjoy quality time with your family, learn new things and experience local culture. Now, we are super excited to bring new opportunities to recreate, educate and provide cultural opportunities by offering Waxhaw residents programming in small group settings. We will be working to provide offerings for our citizens of all ages from youth, teens, adults and seniors throughout the year. In a town-wide survey about Parks & Recreation services, Waxhaw residents indicated strong interest in regular program- ming from the Town. In response, the department is creating youth programs, teen nights and activities, adult programs and trips , senior fitness classes and social hours. During the summer, we will also be offering Fun Days in the Park activities. On our quest to champion quality of life initiatives that unmistakably reflect the unique character of Waxhaw, the department will proudly partner with local and regional organizations such as the Carolina Thread Trail, Waxhaw Athletic Association, local business owners and more to provide these new programs. Chances are you’ll probably see our faces around town. Stop to say hello! We’d love to hear how your family embraces the recreational and cultural opportunities in Waxhaw.
