The Town of Waxhaw partners with the Waxhaw Athletic Association (WAA) to provide recreational sports programming.
The WAA is an all volunteer, non-profit organization serving young athletes and their families since 1980
offering baseball, softball, soccer, basketball, flag football and cheer and is presently the fastest growing athletic
association in Union County serving over 1,300 young athletes ages 3-18 every year. Our families come from surrounding
communities within Union County, South Charlotte, and bordering South Carolina. The goal is to provide children and their
families with accessible, age-appropriate developmental programs that players can grow with over time. For additional infor-

Waxhaw Baseball
Waxhaw Baseball participates with the Cal Ripken Baseball organization
and offers programs for players ranging in age from 4-12 and as part of
Union County Babe Ruth organization for players 13-15 (Age 18 in Spring).
Waxhaw Girls Softball
Waxhaw Girls Softball is an affiliate association of Char-Meck
Softball through Mecklenburg and Union Counties and is a
Recreational Softball League for girls ages 6-16. .
Waxhaw Adult Slow-Pitch Softball
The Waxhaw Athletic Association offers a Men’s Softball program. The
League is centered around family-friendly ideals and offers a fun, yet com-
petitive, league to enjoy a great game of softball. Games will begin around mid-June.
Waxhaw Soccer Club
Waxhaw Soccer Club offers soccer programs for children ages 3-15 at every skill
level. Micro and Early Development programs introduce basic elements of the
game in a non-competitive environment. The curriculum emphasizes individual
skill development and having fun. The Recreational program is a great way for
players to have fun, learn the sport and develop a love for the game. The Academy,
Challenge and Classic programs offer a more competitive program for advanced
players.
Waxhaw Basketball
Waxhaw Basketball offers programs for girls and boys from the age of 5 to 15.
Waxhaw Cheer
Cheer is open to K-5th graders. The team cheers at various WAA sporting events
throughout the winter sport seasons. Registration opens in August.
Waxhaw Flag Football
The Waxhaw Flag Football program offers programs for various ages and divisions.
Play format is co-ed and non-contact.
