1990s Dan Clouser ’92 retired as a Commander from the US Navy, after commissioning from JU NROTC in 1992 with a BS in Mathematics. While his career as a Supply Corps officer spanned the globe, his final duty station was in the Pentagon on the Chief of Naval Operations staff (OPNAV). To celebrate, he undertook a two-month cross country road trip to see the country, finally settling in his new home in La Mesa, CA. LCDR Christopher Sacra '98, a JU NROTC alumnus, retired from the Navy after 20 years of service on May 4, 2018. 2000s Charles Bailey '00, (pictured below) CSX Director of Construction Engineering, was presented with the Association of American Railroads’ John H. Chafee Environmental Excellence Award for his career contributions to elevating environmental standards in rail construction and design processes. Robin Hertel '06 attended the Nurses in Washington Internship (NIWI) program in Washington, DC in March 2018. During the internship she was able to advocate for several legislative bills that impact nursing. Additionally, Hertel is currently serving as the president elect of the Academy of Medical- Surgical Nurses, a professional nursing organization with more than 12,000 active members and 30,000 certified medical-surgical nurses. She assumed the role of President of the organization in October 2018. Steve Jeantet '00 successfully defended his dissertation, “Considering a Relationship Between Moral Disengagement, Faith Maturity and Organizational Commitment: An Empirical Study of PCA Churches in Florida” to complete his PhD in Organizational Leadership from Eastern University. Josh Beauchamp ‘03 didn’t wait long to put his experience as the station manager at Dolphin TV to use in the real world. After graduating, he spent the first 13 years of his career in local TV news at Jacksonville’s perennial #1 station, WJXT-TV 4. His climb up the proverbial ladder as an editor, photographer, producer and Executive Producer helped him land the Assistant News Director gig at Graham Media Group’s newly-purchased WSLS 10, the NBC affiliate in Roanoke, VA in December 2017. The Jacksonville native was a member of the Dolphin football team from ‘99-‘00. Jenarie Davis-Middleton '08 created Jenarie Magazine in November 2017. She began this journey in order to create a magazine for Hidden Figures; deserving people within the community. Creating a publication that brings a voice to people working toward positive change in our society has been a source of pride for Davis- Middleton. She is a proud JU Davis College of Business graduate. 2010s Owen Green '13 recently fulfilled his dream of finding a career in his field of study in a beautiful Colorado mountain town. Green was appointed the position of group sales specialist at Snowmass Tourism in Snowmass Village, CO. He previously held the position of online marketing coordinator with Snowmass Tourism. Green also coaches the Aspen High School lacrosse team. He played lacrosse for the Dolphins during his time at JU. Christopher Sweeney ’13 (pictured above) currently teaches second grade at Pelican Island Elementary in Vero Beach, FL. He traveled back to Jacksonville in 2017 to paint a mural of his signature XoRobot for the Murray Hill Preservation Society on Edgewood Ave. Sweeney said he jumped at the chance to help make Jacksonville more colorful, and was excited to give back to a city that gave him so much. He recently returned to Jacksonville yet again to paint a mural in Riverside, and came back to his alma mater in September 2018 to paint his signature stretched heart on JU’s Founder’s Building. Dr. Hidayat Nagori '14 has been selected to the "America's Best Dentists" registry for 2018. Selections were made by the National Consumer Advisory Board, an organization that identifies top professionals in their fields. Dr. Nagori serves as editor and has published numerous articles in internationally recognized Orthodontic journals. He is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontics, American Board of Orthodontics, The College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics and American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association. Glenn Turner Jr. '17 was hired by Duval County Public Schools in September 2017 to teach World History at Atlantic Coast High School in Jacksonville, FL. Lillian Wright '18 will be attending UIUC as a graduate student this fall pursuing a Masters in Opera Performance and Literature on a full-ride talent scholarship. WAVEMAGAZINEONLINE.COM 47
