I
, like most folk, look forward to
‘New Years’. For most, it offers a
unique time in an otherwise busy
schedule to pause and reflect. We
all give ourselves the space to think
in the Janus moment — the space to
look back on the year before, on our
trials, our tribulations, and triumphs.
To take a tour in quick flashbacks
of the highs and lows, before we
38
drift, reluctantly at first, into looking
ahead.
By New Year’s Eve, through the
grand tradition of peer pressure,
we have built a head of steam and
are ready to declare our New Year’s
resolutions to the brave changes we
plan to make to improve our lives and
the impact we have on the people
around us.

by more frequent
extreme weather
events.
