Community Outreach & Education
The SFPUC values the long-standing partnerships that we have
established with the diverse communities we serve. We also value
transparent communication and strive to address constituent
inquiries and concerns in a timely fashion. We continue to educate
the public about local water supply issues and promote water
conservation in our community through:
• Innovative educational campaigns
• Media and crisis communications
• Informative print and digital publications
in multiple languages
• Engaging social media content
• Public hearings, community events and
educational presentations
SAN FRANCISCO GROUNDWATER SUPPLY
PROJECT OUTREACH
Building upon over 10 years of community engagement for the
Groundwater Program, the SFPUC focused outreach efforts this
year on helping stakeholders understand the vital importance of the
San Francisco Groundwater Supply Project. In addition to launching
a city-wide educational campaign, the San Francisco Groundwater
Project was featured in eight earned media stories in print and on
the radio. The SFPUC distributed an educational video on our social
media outlets, and featured the story several times in agency print
and digital newsletters. Staff conducted 11 presentations to key
stakeholder groups, and participated in two public hearings: one at
the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and the other at a regular
meeting of the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission.
