Number of employees : Banfield has over 16,000 associates across the United States and Puerto Rico . In Washington , Banfield has 1,120 associates , including nearly 700 at its new corporate headquarters in Vancouver .
Embodying the award ( Leading Environmental Practices ): In 2016 , Banfield Pet Hospital officially moved across the Columbia River from its original home into its new headquarters in Vancouver . The new campus was built from the ground-up specifically for Banfield and reflects Banfield ’ s values — including an open office environment , dog-friendly amenities and a design that reflects the company ’ s roots in the Pacific Northwest . The campus was designed to obtain the highest LEED certification possible , in line with the focus of Banfield ’ s parent company — Mars , Incorporated . The company has already achieved a Gold designation and is aiming for the highest possible certification .
About the company : Banfield Pet Hospital is the world ’ s largest full-service companion animal veterinary practice with more than 960 hospitals in 42 states as well as District of Columbia and Puerto Rico . Notable contributions to the community and the state :
• In 2016 , 296 Banfield associates in Washington volunteered 1,167 hours with local nonprofits , benefiting over 18,300 pets and people .
• Its charitable arm , the Banfield Foundation , donated nearly $ 68,000 since the launch of the foundation in September of 2015 to nonprofits located in Washington .
• Since the move to its new headquarters , Banfield has donated more than 1,000 pounds of edible food from its bistro , which otherwise would have gone to waste , to Share , a nonprofit that serves Vancouver ’ s homeless and low income population .

Thanks to millions of dollars of investment , Nucor ’ s Seattle facility is one of the greenest in the world , using as little as 10 percent of the energy consumed by many of its global competitors .
