king county
The outsize impact of the Seattle metro region has already been noted . King County accounts for 42 percent of all nonfarm employment in the state , 1.4 million jobs . As a financial , trade , and manufacturing center , the county has more than half of the state ’ s professional and business services and “ other private services ” jobs . The latter category includes transportation services , software publishing and telecommunications . Although the share has decreased slightly since 2000 , King County continues to have a healthy manufacturing employment base , with 103,000 jobs , about 36 percent of the statewide total .
