AWB recognized five Washington employers this year for embracing sustainability and
environmental stewardship. With both sweeping changes and keen attention to important details,
these companies are setting new high standards for protecting and enhancing the environments
and communities in which they operate.
Washington is a state of innovation, and that’s especially
true when it comes to finding more energy efficient and
cleaner ways to do business.
AWB honored five of the state’s greenest member
companies in May with the 23rd annual Environmental
Excellence Awards. The prizes are given each year to
companies that go above and beyond in sustainability,
resource conservation, pollution prevention and general
cutting-edge environmental practices.

In presenting the awards during Spring Meeting in
Spokane, AWB President Kris Johnson praised the many
ways the five businesses utilized innovation and took
initiative to lead the way in environmental practices in their
industries.
“These companies are exceptional, but they are not the
exception. They represent how businesses across our state
and in every sector set environmental goals and then seek
new and innovative ways to reach them,” Johnson said.
