what’s working
Employer of the Year
Wagstaff Inc. took home the 2018 Employer of the Year award. This award recognizes employers
that foster a thriving work environment through innovative job retention and creation, benefits
or compensation plans.
“It’s a great culture, and it’s a real privilege for me after 41 years to be able to work in a
company such as we’ve got right now,” CEO Kevin Person said. “So, without our team and
without the owners, I know that it couldn’t be done. So, I want to say thank you very, very much.”
The company is located in Spokane Valley and is a global leader in the aluminum industry.
Employees enjoy compensation packages equal to or above the market average, including medical
benefits, an onsite gym and more. The company also supports workforce development with local
schools.
The other Employer of the Year award finalists were SiteCrafting, based in Tacoma, and Skills,
Inc. of Auburn.
Entrepreneur of the Year
Boundless Immigration of Seattle took home the Entrepreneur of the Year award. This honor
is given to a business less than five years-old that has made a significant impact in its industry.
Boundless Immigration has developed a new way to streamline immigration paperwork.
Customers can use an online tool to navigate the complex requirements of immigration law, receive
support and review from an attorney, and get help formatting and printing the documents required.
This “online immigration company” provides clarity by turning government forms into simple
questions that can be answered online, the company reports, saving people thousands in fees.
Boundless co-founder Serdar Sutay thanked the “amazing” Boundless team, which has already
helped hundreds of immigrants and made their lives a little bit better.
“We are just getting started,” he said.
The other finalists for the Entrepreneur of the Year award were Knutzen Engineering in
Kennewick and Noggin Branding in Bellingham.
