“The president of a college should be
sitting down with the CEO of a company
that typically recruits there to discuss
how to evolve their curriculum so that
students get the skills that lead to jobs.”
The next generation of workforce has both
the blessing and the curse of social media — on
one hand it interconnects families, friends and
colleagues, but on the other hand sharing too
much, or the wrong things on social media,
can hinder job prospects. What, if any, caution
would you offer millennials about using social
media?
You need to understand that the internet now contains
your permanent record. What you publish online, or
what other people publish about you, will impact
your job prospects and personal relationships for the
rest of your life. If you post a status update that you
dislike POTUS, or a picture of you drinking, it could
be harder to get a job or even a date. Before you tweet
or update your status, pretend that it would appear
hanging on the Space Needle in Seattle in front of your
entire community.

First, focus 90 percent of your time on your strengths and 10 percent of your time on the

Second, be the real you because everyone else is taken and replicas don’t sell for as much. Stop
