BANGKOK ’ S BUMRUNGRAD INTERNATIONAL RAISES THE BAR
Joint Commission International ( JCI ): Bumrungrad International was the first hospital in Asia to obtain JCI accreditation in 2001 , and the hospital has been scrutinized under increasingly strict standards every three years from that year onward . This has opened up the international market and benchmarked Bumrungrad ’ s standards against other leading hospitals worldwide . More than 40 hospitals in Thailand have since followed and sought JCI accreditation .
Global Healthcare Accreditation ( GHA ): Bumrungrad International was accredited by GHA in 2017 , making it the first hospital in Asia with this approval of quality . This accreditation focuses on standardizing medical travel .
College of American Pathologists ( CAP ): Bumrungrad International is proud to be the only private hospital in Thailand with a CAP accredited Laboratory , where most standardized tests are fully automated .

THAILAND ’ S FATHER OF MODERN MEDICINE
There has always been a strong history of medical education and practice in Thailand , made even stronger by Prince Mahidol Adulyadej , the father of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej . Prince Mahidol earned his M . D . from Harvard Medical School in 1928 , distinguished with cum laude honors .
He then returned to Thailand to share his talents and experience with his people , working in the missionary-run McCormick Hospital in Chiang Mai , before eventually falling ill and passing away at a very young age .
He is considered to be the Father of Modern Medicine in Thailand , a title he earned through leading by example and putting Thailand ’ s medical infrastructure at the forefront of the country ’ s focus .
