Food
In charge of the exquisite beverages
is resident mixologist Thomas
Alexandre, who has created a drinks
list like no other in Phuket. His cocktails
are made using premium alcohol and
fresh fruit. (Don’t miss the strawberry
and passionfuit mojito!) At 270 THB,
the drinks are an affordable start for
sundowners at the sunset-facing
bar. Thomas also dallies with interior
decoration and focuses on setting the
right ambience, lighting and music for
the time of day, from groovy lounge
tunes in the early evening to a little
more electric later on.
Art Caffe
CONCLUSION
Chef Daniel and Thomas are
passionate about what they do,
and they make sure guests are
well looked after. You could spend
hours indulging at “Home” without
running a high bill. Try the Chef’s
dinner menu on Tuesdays for 950
THB—it’s a steal for any four-course
meal of this standard.
The future is looking bright for
Home with plans in motion for
transforming the sleeping areas into
a deluxe boutique hotel. The upper
floor will become an open-air bar and
lounge for pre-club entertainment and
will provide space for cinema and BBQ
events. They will be open for breakfast
and lunch in the future, too, and the
team is preparing to display the work of
local artists on a regular basis.

THE PLACE
FOOD & BEVERAGE
Art Caffe is in the heart of Rawai on the
Sai Yuan Road. If you’re coming from
the north, once you pass the Karon
Viewpoint, it’s just over 3km on your
right hand side. There is very limited
parking however you’re bound to find
a space on the side streets.
Although its name suggest it is
an art café, at the time of visiting
there were sadly no exhibitions on
display. However the Rawai area
boasts a bustling underground art
scene, and around the corner on Soi
Naya 2 is a hidden gem called the
Phuket Art Village.
The décor is simple and sleek
with both outdoor and indoor
seating. This is a great place to while
away the hours and offers plenty of
magazines, books, and free Wi-Fi.
Nothing melts the heart like a great
coffee and Art Caffe offers a high
quality selection, using Illy brand
coffee beans. When it comes to food,
fresh and crisp ingredients are the
essential elements according to
Italian expat owner, Alessio Cocchi.
Smoked salmon salad for lunch
is a perfect choice, served with
hydroponic mixed salad, crispy
red cabbage, the sweetest cherry
tomatoes, and a generous portion of
smoked salmon. Or try the tuna salad,
which is just as fresh and tasty!
The menu has incorporated
elements of Italy, from charcuterie
plates and panini to affogato
and tiramisu. Enjoy with a decent
selection of Italian wines, Campari,
and Limoncello.
CONCLUSION
Art Caffe provides the best of
both worlds in terms of food and
beverages—don’t miss the fresh fruit
shakes! Maybe it’s best they don’t
advertise themselves too much so we
can keep Art Caffe our little secret.
Also remember to visit the Phuket
Art Village just around the corner,
which has a creative collection of
home studios and galleries including
works by Khun Apinan Sarochwong, a
Thai puppeteer, and by Khun Pom, an
ecological artist who is campaigning
